The MTA group specialises in isolation and characterization of allergens from their native source, as well as in the production of recombinant proteins in diverse expression systems. We use state of the art technologies and have long-term experience in purification of high quality proteins.

Protein identification and characterization methods are crucial to our research. Complex mixtures are resolved by 1-D as well as 2-D Difference Gel Electrophoresis (DIGE) techniques. N-terminal sequencing and mass spectrometry allow the identification of new immunoreactive proteins. Protein secondary structure and heat stability are monitored by circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy. 

 

 

 

In close collaboration with specialized proteomics facilities that are fully equipped to answer diverse scientific questions:

- The Green Tech Platform of the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST)
- The Proteomics platform within the Quantitative Biology Unit of our institute.

The MTA group has expertise in setting up immunoassays for the detection and quantification of allergens in food and in the environment. 

SEROLOGICAL ANALYSIS

A close collaboration with the National Service of Immuno-Allergology at CHL, allows us to perform patient-based studies and have access to human material to define the diagnostic value of individual allergens and to analyse immunological responses in human blood samples. Standardized sampling of material handled by our collaboration partner: The Integrated Biobank of Luxembourg (IBBL).

National cytometry platform (NCP) at our department provides access to state of the art technologies in flow and mass cytometry.
